Coffee Recipe | Plain Latte

A basic unflavored Latte to kick off a productive day.

Lattes are generally too milk-forward for me. I live more in the realm of Flat Whites or Cappuccinos. However Lattes are very popular, and usually what comes to mind when most people think about fancy coffee. This is a good place to start with milk-assimilated coffee beverage recipes.

Tech Stack

  • Espresso machine.
  • Milky frother. This is a device that froths milk. There are many different types. I use a handheld one.
  • Milk frothing pitcher. A small metal pitcher that you will heat, and froth the milk in.
  • Scale. I use a digital scale to measure my coffee and milk. It is not necessary, but it is helpful.
  • 10 oz or larger cup or glass. This is the vessel you will drink your latte out of.

Variables

  • 36g Espresso Shot. This is the base ingredient for a latte.
  • 230g (8.1 ounces) milk. I use whole milk, but you can use any kind you like.

Executables

  1. Pull a shot of Espresso into your cup. If you are using a manual Espresso machine, follow the instructions in my Espresso recipe.
  2. Froth the milk in your milk frothing pitcher. Check out my milk frothing guide for a more in-depth explanation.
  3. Pour the milk into the cup with the espresso. If you know how to do latte art, now is the time.

Console

I hope you liked this recipe! Make sure to enjoy the latte while it is hot. Lattes, and Espressos, in general cool down fast.

Enjoy!
